NBS response to documentary film on CBC

An independent documentary about Canada’s National Ballet School called An Improbable Dream aired on CBC television on Sunday March 27.

This documentary film focuses on the personal experiences of a few students from over 35 years ago and paints an unfair and distorted image of the School.   While we acknowledge the experiences of these particular students, their stories are not reflective of all the students from that period and more importantly do not reflect the state of the School today.  Regrettably, the film fails to acknowledge or represent the globally-recognized standards and values that define NBS.

NBS' priority is fostering a supportive, collaborative and nurturing culture and student experience. The School’s progressive curriculum, with its emphasis on the physical and emotional well-being of all our students, has put NBS at the forefront of dance training internationally.
