9 Week Introduction to Adult Ballet

Established in 1996, Adult Ballet at NBS is now one of the most popular recreational ballet programs in the Greater Toronto Area. Exceptional instruction, live piano accompaniment, state-of-the-art facilities and personal attention are the hallmarks of this program, which caters to adults of all ages and levels.

Why should you take Introduction to Adult Ballet at NBS?
  • Adult ballet is an excellent form of exercise, promoting good health and emotional well-being – and it’s FUN!
  • Every muscle is used and engaged in movement, while all aspects of the brain are utilized in developing logic
  • (to learn steps), artistry (interpreting music) and memory (memorizing steps) – it’s GOOD for you!
  • Classical music, played during a ballet class, encourages alpha wave development, which enhances creativity,
  • thinking and combats depression – you FEEL good after class!

Workshops for Winter/Spring

February 25, Advantage Arabesque - A workshop concentrating on the quintessential ballet line-arabesque. Conditioning exercises to support sequences to understand your body in the line and working the upper body and arms into the arabesque line. 

For adult dancers, Level II/III and/or Elementary RAD or Cecchetti standing.
Time: 11.15am - 12.35pm
Instructor: Robert (Ballet Bob) McCollum
Fee: $20 for NBS AB students; $25 public

April 29 - Healthy Spine 
If you sit at a desk for much of the day, this class is for you! Offering a series of movement sequences to enhance well-being while creating an awareness of posture, Bob will also provide options for relieving tension along the spine. As this workshop is suited for all adults, we encourage you to bring friends - and be sure to wear comfortable clothes for the workshop.

No previous dance experience required - open to all.
Time: 11.15am - 12.35pm
