"This moment showed me the individuality, different style, and unique personality of this teacher, but also taught me to be aware of these characteristics and to accept the diverse qualities of each individual teacher."

It’s only a few days into Assemblée Internationale and already I've seen such marvellous dancers. The class that I had observed today was such an incredible experience.

I noticed something interesting from the teacher whose class I had observed today. She was from the Royal Danish Ballet School and what she said was quite funny and unexpected. She said, "Be your feet". This was quite an unusual saying; it was odd but caught my ear the moment she said it to the class. She said it with such enthusiasm, but with a hint of seriousness so everyone in the studio understood what she meant. This little saying had such a great impact on the way the girls danced. They articulated their feet even more and became more stable on pointe. This moment showed me the individuality, different style, and unique personality of this teacher, but also taught me to be aware of these characteristics and to accept the diverse qualities of each individual teacher.

I have seen these qualities in the dances I've seen during the dress rehearsals. One of the pieces that caught my eye was Zelenstova from EESA/CPD de l'Institut del Teatre. This piece showed the body's full range of movement as well as the acting and emotion the piece represented. This dance showed its full potential and was truly entertaining! I can't wait for what the rest of AI has to offer!
