Why Sharing Dance for Children and Youth

Dance is easy to adapt for various ability levels. … What I love most about dance in comparison to many other sports out there is that it is a sustainable way to remain active as we age.

Why Dance for Children and Youth?

We believe that dance fosters collaboration skills, creativity, positive physical expression, and is integral to whole child development.

For children and youth, ongoing involvement in dance can:

  • Build physical literacy; the love of movement and desire to be physically active for life
  • Improve physical health
  • Increase social and communication skills
  • Improve self-esteem

As they master new skills and enjoy the physical, mental and emotional benefits of dance, we believe that students will continue to dance, and seek more artistic and physical activities in their lives.

Performing as a collective on Sharing Dance Day will add to their dance enjoyment and expertise.
