What is Sharing Dance Seniors?
Sharing Dance Seniors is an accessible dance program developed to engage older adults in meaningful dance activity that benefits physical, cognitive and overall health.

  • Classes are designed to be adaptable to meet physical and cognitive challenges
  • Instruction includes modification for both standing and sitting positions
  • Choreography and music selection targets wellness through meaningful engagement, and creative self-expression
How is the program delivered?
  • An instructor from Canada’s National Ballet School teaches the classes via video streaming from the studio in Toronto.
  • A staff member from your site receives training to support the set up and running of the program, as well as provide feedback that is incorporated into subsequent classes.
  • Technical support is available

Class Content
  • 3 terms per year are offered during the fall, winter and spring. Each term consists of 8 weekly classes
  • Classes may be customized in content and length to meet site specific needs
Facilitator Role and Technical Support
  • NBS and Baycrest strongly encourage having a Facilitator in the room for each class, to manage set-up, monitor participant safety and engagement with the video program, as well as provide streamlined, helpful feedback utilized by the program delivery team
  • There are no pre-requisites necessary for the Facilitator, but we strongly encourage them to take the 30-minute online training in advance
  • Technical support is available
Communications and Marketing Support
  • Form-fillable poster templates to advertise the program internally
  • Sample program copy (e.g. press kit, email/web copy, social media posts), and images to use in stakeholder communications
Cost per site:
  • $360 per one 8-week session ($45 per class) or $1,000 per three 8-week sessions.
