Levels

The Adult Ballet Program offers seven progressive levels designed to appropriately accommodate students while allowing for individual advancement at their own pace. This is carefully constructed through a program of increasingly complex exercises. Each class builds on the previous one; therefore, it is important that students attend class regularly in order to progress naturally.

Find Your Level

Find Your Level classes are offered to prospective students as an opportunity to assess their level. A Find Your Level class must be reserved by calling Reception at 416-964-3780 and can only be taken once.

Introduction to Ballet

Based on a 15-week term, this class is designed for adults with no previous dance experience. The goal of this class is to slowly and methodically focus on sound postural alignment and basic ballet vocabulary. Introduction to Ballet is ideal for those who wish to learn the basics of ballet without committing for the entire year of study. This class, unlike the other levels, repeats the same material each term.

Level I (Foundation) *

This class offers a year-long progression designed for the student to advance through the program. Completion of this level is a prerequisite to enter Level I/II.

Level I / II (Foundation) *

This level acts as a bridge between Level I and II. It is meant to act as a transition and preparation class for the next level.

Level II (Foundation) *

This level builds on the basic knowledge of barre acquired from Level I, introduces adage and pirouettes, and increases the level of petite allegro.

* Note

Levels I, I / II and II are foundation-building levels which enable students to learn the basics of ballet through consistent training in a thoughtful and professional manner.

Level III

Students in this level have an advanced knowledge of barre and centre work. Level III offers an increased movement vocabulary and longer combinations.

Level III / IV

This level acts as a bridge between Level III and IV. It is meant to act as a transition and preparation class for the next level.

Level IV

In this level, complicated combinations are explored as well as longer adage, allegro and enchainements. A mastery of Level III or the elementary levels of RAD or Cecchetti is a prerequisite for this course.
