Introducing a new Summer program for August 2010 at NBS!
This Summer Intensive is open to dance students and teachers interested in gaining training and hands-on experience with NBS’ world-renowned Artistic staff. Running for ten days from August 3 – August 13, students and teachers will have access to a range of dance classes and expertise from two of NBS’ consultants. The Summer Intensive will be completed with a performance on the Betty Oliphant Theatre stage – thus encompassing the "Studio to Stage" experience.
Sarah Shugarman
Sarah is a musician, composer, interdisciplinary artist and teacher trained in classical and world music, theatre, and dance. In addition to arranging for and performing with numerous Canadian music ensembles, she has been recognized for her composition for dance and her contributions to award winning theatre and film projects. She holds degrees from Simon Fraser University and the University of Toronto. She has taught in Cambodia, Costa Rica and the US, she has worked on faculty in the department of Music and Dance at Kobe Jogakuin University, Japan and currently teaches in the departments of Music and Drama at the University of Toronto Schools.
Talar Margarosyan
Talar Margarosyan completed her early ballet training at the Istanbul State Conservatory in Istanbul, Turkey. She then completed two years of intensive ballet study at the Istanbul University Ballet Department, where she received a master's degree, and was fortunate to be able to work with Ramazan Bapov. Shortly after moving to Canada in 1998, Talar was accepted into the Teacher Training Program for professional dancers at Canada's National Ballet School. She became an artistic staff member at NBS in 2003, and currently teaches ballet in the Professional Ballet Program, the Associates Program and the Teacher Training Program.
