Sharing Dance Announcing a New Website,
NBS has launched to encourage experiencing the joy of dance together. Through instructional dance videos, will support dancers of all ages and levels as they assemble a dance troupe and begin rehearsing their dance. Rudi van Dantzig NBS Mourns Rudi van Dantzig
On Jan 19 the dance world lost a prolific and important voice when choreographer Rudi van Dantzig passed away. As Artistic Director of the Dutch National Ballet many NBS alumni – including Artistic Director Mavis Staines – worked with him. In 1979 he gifted his work, Four Last Songs, to the School. Everyone at NBS misses Rudi and sends thoughts and wishes to his family and friends.
Rob Binet Robert Binet to Work with The Royal Ballet
Robert Binet, an NBS graduate (class of 2009) has been named The Royal Ballet's Choreographic Apprentice for the remainder of the 2011/2012 season. Binet has worked with The National Ballet of Canada, The Hamburg Ballet and the Spring 2011 New York Choreographic Institute. In this new role, he will be mentored by The Royal Ballet's Resident Choreographer, Wayne McGregor. Read more...

Congratulations to the 2012 winners of the Peter Dwyer Awards! Given annually to promising students at NBS and the National Theatre School, past winners have included David Prottas (New York City Ballet), Nehemiah Kish (The Royal Ballet), and Jason Reilly (Stuttgart Ballet). This year's winners are Jacqueline Bâby, Félix Paquet, Volodia Gaetan-Fernandez, Kota Sato, Martin ten Kortenaar, Anya Kulas and Jessica Xuan.
For the Love of Ballet Gala For the Love of Ballet Gala a Success!
Heartfelt thanks to all for the support of our 2012 Gala held February 11 at the Ritz-Carlton. Talent is the sole criterion for entry into NBS and 7 out of 10 students require financial assistance. The funds raised impact students today and contribute to ensuring the brightest future possible for them, NBS, and for all who love ballet.
Associates Associates Program Corner
Evaluations are underway for Associates Program classes. A reminder to all AP families that classes will run as regularly scheduled throughout the month of March, the AP does not observe March Break. Finally, for prospective AP students auditions are coming! Scheduled for Sunday April 22 & Sunday May 6, registration is required.
The Shoe Room The Shoe Room has a Facelift
Our dancewear boutique has recently undergone a refresh. Formerly a dance studio, the show room floor has been opened up to reveal the original mirrors & barre, making the store feel more spacious & allowing room for new & improved dancewear lines. Pointe shoe fittings have been moved to a more private setting on the 2nd floor for a more intimate & personal experience. Drop by to take a look. Hope to see you soon!
