2013 PBP grads Grade 12 Professional Ballet Program Graduation
June 21 saw the graduating class of 2013 receive their diplomas from Mavis Staines, Artistic Director and Cathryn Gregor, Executive Director. In addition to the Academic Awards presented, the following Ballet Awards were given to:

• Shizuru Kato – Lawrence Haskett Scholarship Award
• Liam Redhead – Erik Bruhn Memorial Award
• Soo Ah Kang – Christopher Ondaatje Ballet Prize
• Calley Skalnik – The Special Ballet Staff Award in Honour of Glenn Gilmour
• Patrick Foster – the inaugural Jeff Melanson Prize

Congratulations to all grads! Artist-in-Residence Peggy Baker was selected by the Grade 12 graduating class to give the student address.
TTP grads Teacher Training Graduation
On June 18, seven Teacher Training Program students graduated in the Betty Oliphant Theatre in front of parents, family, friends and staff. The Betty Oliphant Award was presented by Cheryl Belkin Epstein to Bartira Baretto, while the Carol Chadwick Award (presented to a returning student) was given to Gerard McIsaac. Congratulations to the class of 2013!
Summer School students Student Exchange at NBS
A total of 29 NBS students from Grades 10 and up will be visiting partner schools in Europe and the US this summer for a new dance experience. Meanwhile, NBS will be welcoming 28 international students to its Summer School � as with the AI 13, we greatly look forward to showing off our staff, students and studios.

Presents The August Intensive, August 12-16 at NBS. Returning this summer with reduced fees, new instructors and more flexibility in class selection: three full-week streams to choose from – Repertory, Technique and Body & Breath – and single classes including morning and afternoon Ballet sessions with Christine Wright, Vocal Exploration with Fides Krucker and Contemporary Technique with Peggy Baker.

June 5 saw NBS's community members and participants from Beaumonde Heights Junior P.S, and John Ross Robertson P.S. celebrate National Aboriginal History Month in Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square. Dancing to a routine choreographed by NBS alum Santee Smith, to music by A Tribe Called Red, a great time was had by all. Watch and share the video.

Culture Days Culture Days at NBS
As in the past, NBS will be offering observation classes in the Betty Oliphant Theatre on Saturday, September 28 and a variety of free dance classes on Sunday, September 29. Registration will open for the classes later this summer. Check the Culture Days site for more details.

Dancing for Parkinson's Dancing for Parkinson's at NBS
Beginning September, NBS will be offering a series of dance classes for people with Parkinson's disease based on the successful Mark Morris program developed in Brooklyn, NY. The free 12 week program will include an opt-in research component by researchers from York and Ryerson Universities. Stay tuned for registration details.
