Teacher Training Graduation
On June 11, eleven Teacher Training Program students graduated in the Betty Oliphant Theatre in front of parents, family, friends and staff. The Betty Oliphant Award was presented to Alexander Pandiscio, while the Carol Chadwick Award was given to Laura Leli�vre, and the Sylvia M. McPhee Award was presented to Marie-Anne Th�roux. Creative Challenge at the Gardiner Museum
First Position Patrons and their counterparts at the Gardiner Museum joined forces in hosting His Excellency Governor General David Johnston at the wrap up of the Creative Challenge�s Museum Suite on June 19. The event, which was titled TENSIONS, brought together a truly spectacular evening of dance, ceramics and collaboration. Read the Governor General�s speech to attendees here.
Summer School begins!
Beginning the week of July 6, NBS welcomes students and Artistic staff to its four week long Summer School program. PBP students will spend their July dancing while auditioning students will see what it�s like to experience dance in a relaxed, camp-like atmosphere. Welcome to all!
Student Exchange at NBS
A total of 15 NBS students will be visiting partner schools throughout Europe, the US and Australia this summer for a new dance experience. Meanwhile, NBS will be welcoming students from Quebec, the USA, Amsterdam and Hamburg.
Toronto 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Opening Ceremony
NBS is thrilled to announce that 56 students from the Professional Ballet Program will participate in Cirque du Soleil�s Opening Ceremony, at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. Participants from three other arts organizations will also be involved. NBS students have been rehearsing since December 2014 and are eagerly looking forward to the July 10 celebration.

On July 15 at the Betty Oliphant Theatre, NBS is proud to present of the People , a commission by the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games arts and culture festival, PANAMANIA presented by CIBC. Ideas Exchange 2015: Professional Development for Dance Teachers � July 27-30

Sharing Dance Day 2015
On May 24 Sharing Dance Day took over Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto. Over 150 dancers participated in the Hideaway routine, with music by Canada�s own Kiesza and choreographed by Gadfly, Street dancers extraordinaire. Please watch (and share) the performance video. You can also watch and/or participate in a remount of the routine at Ontario�s Celebration Zone at Harbourfront Centre, during the Pan Am Games on Saturday, July 18. Community class rehearsal 3pm � 4pm and performance at 4pm.
Adult Ballet
Term I of the 2015/2016 season will begin September 8. Registration will open to current students at the end of July. New students who are interested in joining can sign up for the Adult Ballet Contact List to receive access to early bird registration.
Student Council for 2015-2016
The incoming student council has been selected from the graduating class of 2016 and we welcome the following students in their new roles: President: Sarah Branch; Social Director: Carson McDougall; Donations Director: Nadine Schwarzbard; Secretary: Heather Lehan; and Treasurer: Katherine Li.
Culture Days at NBS, September 2015
NBS will once again be taking part in Culture Days this fall! We will be offering observation classes and a variety of ballet classes for both children and adults. Registration for classes will open later this summer. Stay tuned for more details.
