The 2022 Apricus Foundation LEAD National Summit

This summer we held The Apricus Foundation LEAD National Summit and our studios were full of enthralling conversations, relationship-building, and of course, dance!

LEAD stands for Leadership, Empowerment, Action and Dance and it is a free workshop organized by NBS that encourages participants, aged 16-25, who identify as women, two-spirit and/or genderqueer, to take to take on leadership roles in their community and inspire future generations to participate in dance.

With three days of special programming, participants were inspired creatively, physically and mentally through panels of thought-provoking speakers and engaged in different dance forms such as Hip Hop, West African and Contemporary. Best of all, they had a chance to collaborate and communicate with peers from across Canada!

We are thankful for all the professional artists and panelists who came to empower and inspire 32 young leaders to make a difference through dance in their community.
