A World Leader in Dance Education
Canada's National Ballet School – an international leader in ballet training - is dedicated to advancing the art of ballet. NBS integrates academic training, dance training and residential facilities all on one campus and is the only school of its kind in North America.
Share in the Vision
Our students have the talent and passion necessary to make dancing their professional ambition. They possess the drive to pursue this dream to the greatest heights it can take them. They leave NBS with a desire to share the dancing they have perfected.
Talent is the sole criterion for acceptance into the Professional Ballet Program.
NBS offers financial support to help cover the cost of tuition for students, thus attracting and retaining the most gifted young dancers. Currently tuition covers only one-third of the full cost of training in the Professional Ballet Program at NBS. Nearly two thirds of the full-time students receive financial support.
Student Partner Program
A partnership allowing donors the opportunity to put a face to their support!
Donors are partnered with a specific student and follow their artistic progress. Student partners are selected by Artistic Director Mavis Staines and NBS staff. Twice a year donors are invited to observe an NBS class or rehearsal and meet their ‘partnered’ student at Student Partner Dinners. Photographs, biographies, news clippings, casting sheets and other materials are periodically forwarded to donors.
Donors to the Student Partner Program appreciate the opportunity to experience the School through the eyes of their students, to feel the power of their dreams – and to become a source of personal encouragement to future ambassadors of dance. The partnership also provides students with a source of inspiration, affirmation and support.
Professional Ballet Program (Residence Student)—$25,000
Young student dancers invited to participate in the Professional Ballet Program enjoy the unique opportunity of residing on campus. While NBS receives generous government support to subsidize part of the cost of tuition and residence, the cost remains beyond what most families can afford. Your gift will allow a talented young residence student to attend NBS without financial restriction.
Professional Ballet Program (Day Student)—$12,500
Day students in the Professional Ballet Program who reside within commuting distance enjoy all the benefits of the full program. With government support, the cost of the day program is still beyond the means of most families. Supporting a day student ensures they receive dance instruction by the world’s best teachers, academic schooling of the highest standard and guidance in all aspects of their growth within world-class facilities, surrounded by friends and faculty who support their dreams and aspirations.
Teacher Training Program—$12,500
NBS offers one of the best teacher training programs in the world. Taught by highly trained and sought-after instructors within the best dance facilities in the world, teachers in training receive full-time instruction, preparing them to take on the challenge of teaching ballet in its full and modern context. Your financial support means a talented dancer can take the next step in developing their career.
Student Exchanges—$10,000
NBS was one of the first schools to initiate student exchanges. Each year, talented students from 15 professional ballet schools around the world visit and train at NBS. Additionally, NBS students also attend a number of summer programs at our partner schools, benefiting from the experience of another training facility. Your support will ensure this invaluable experience and exchange of knowledge continues.
Auditioning Students: Summer School—$5,000
Each summer, following the first of a two part audition process, selected students are invited to attend Summer School, where they must successfully demonstrate their skill and potential prior to being accepted into the full-time Professional Ballet Program. Your support will provide this opportunity to a talented, young dancer.
Your gift would mean the world to our students...
Please consider one of the levels of the Student Partnership Program which makes it possible to educate these gifted young people and encourage them to pursue their dreams.
