Workshop: Intro to Ballet
The ballet journey begins! This 9 week workshop is for the absolute beginner – no previous training is required. In this level the dancer will learn the strong fundamentals of ballet technique. Exercises for good posture, turnout, and supple use of feet and arms will be taught; students are introduced to basic barre and centre work. Dancers are also instructed in proper stretching technique to lengthen muscles, prevent injury, and increase flexibility. Students have commented that this class is beneficial beyond the studio and enhanced their everyday life.
"For someone who had somewhat of a dance background a lifetime ago, the intro to ballet course was the perfect way to get reacquainted with the discipline of dance. I also noticed many benefits outside of ballet...I began to sit and stand taller, and to move more mindfully. Keeping limber and feeding the soul with music is definitely a good thing, but something magical seems to happen when the body connects with the music... It's almost addictive."
