NBS' 2019 Spring Showcase, May 22-25, 2019
Lead Supporter of NBS’ Guest Artist Program
The Koerner Foundation
Since 1959, Spring Showcase has been an annual performance tradition at Canada’s National Ballet School – completely unique in its opportunity to witness the next generation of leading ballet artists as they develop and explore the full spectrum of this rapidly-evolving art form. It is a highly-anticipated event that embraces some of the most well-known classical and modern ballets of all time and provides a platform to showcase new works from leading contemporary choreographers. Performances will run from May 22-25, 2019 at NBS’ Betty Oliphant Theatre, at 404 Jarvis Street in Toronto.
We are thrilled to announce that the 2019 edition will feature the world premieres of two new works, one created by Matjash Mrozewski, and the other by Jera Wolfe. These pieces will be presented alongside excerpts from two much-loved, traditional ballets - Napoli by August Bournonville and La Bayadère by Marius Petipa – in a diverse programme that spotlights the depth and breadth of talent in the NBS community.
Two world premieres.
Two classical excerpts.
In one highly anticipated Spring Showcase 2019.
