You don’t have to have any dance experience. As long as you want to move to music, everyone is welcome.

ABOUT BAYCREST NBS SHARING DANCE SENIORS

Dance is for everyone! Developed by Baycrest and Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS), Sharing Dance Seniors is a safe and accessible dance program that engages older adults in meaningful dance activity that benefits physical, cognitive and overall health. Programming is delivered through the following methods:

  • In Person - A range of classes for seniors of varying abilities are available.
  • Video stream - Bring a Sharing Dance Seniors video class to your community via video stream.  With the goal of providing the highest quality dance programming for seniors, an instructor from NBS will teach a class via video streaming from the studio in Toronto to a range of settings across Canada including community centres and retirement homes.
  • Teacher Training Program - The Baycrest NBS Sharing Dance Seniors Teacher Training Program is designed for dance teachers who are interested in learning how to offer dance classes to seniors with significant physical and/or cognitive limitation (e.g., people living with dementia).
  • New in Spring 2019 - George Brown College Activation Coordinator/Gerontology Program will offer an innovative training course designed and delivered by Baycrest and Canada’s National Ballet School for those interested in learning how to deliver dance classes to older adults with significant physical and/or cognitive challenges including dementia.
