Each year a percentage of dollars* contributed toward endowed funds at Canada's National Ballet School Foundation are matched by the Canadian Government. In 2015 the federal program matched funds at the rate of 1:1, totaling $183,866 in additional funds to the endowment.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the School has been able to enlarge the Foundation's endowment significantly over the last several years. Since 2005 the Foundation's assets have grown from $8 million to $53 million.
The Foundation contributes to the long term organizational health of NBS with sustainable income in perpetuity. When considering your charitable strategy throughout the year, please remember to consider a contribution to the general endowment or create a named fund to ensure that talent remains the sole criterion for entry into NBS' Professional Ballet Program.
Should you like further information on the matching fund opportunity supported by the federal government or other matters pertaining to the Foundation, we would be pleased to assist you.
* Up to $2 million in annual endowment contributions will be matched until November 30th 2016, through the Endowment Incentives Component of the Canada Cultural Investment Fund. The Fund is a program of Canadian Heritage.
