seniors

Movement can provide important physical and emotional benefits for seniors, especially during times of increased social isolation. Baycrest and Canada's National Ballet School are using the power of technology to help bring the joy of dance to more seniors and people who work with seniors. If you are a senior, are caring for an older family member, or work within an environment that needs additional resources to engage residents during this period of social distancing, we have curated some helpful dance resources below.

Your feedback is very helpful as we continue to develop new resources.

Share your experience using our dance resources.

A note: We are excited to provide these online video resources but encourage you to follow closely the recommendations of public health authorities. If you are dancing at home, be sure to clear the space before you begin. If you would like any suggestions or recommendations on how to modify the activities or choreography for your context, please don’t hesitate to send us an email at sharingdance@nbs-enb.ca for extra support.

sharing dance choreography

This choreography, created for NBS by Jera Wolfe, explores how collaboration and support for one another enables us to arise and face challenges in our lives. This theme has never been more relevant than it is right now for many people around the world. This powerful choreography is a symbol and celebration of the power of dance.

Seated Adapted Version: Below are step-by-step instructional videos to accommodate dancers who prefer to remain seated as they learn the choreography (also available in French)
