It's been a hot, hot summer in the city but it hasn't stopped our summer school students having fun, making new friends and dancing. If you've kept up with our Facebook and Twitter feeds, you'll know what they've been up to.
Matthew Quigley Exchange Students
NBS students Matthew Quigley and Théa Barnwell are two of 27 NBS students on an exchange this summer. Read about Matthew's experience at the Houston Ballet Center for Dance, and later, Théa's visit to Dresden in August.
National Audition Tour 2013/2014 National Audition Tour
We're prepping the schedule for our 2013/2014 National Audition Tour! The schedule and dates will be posted in early September and registration will open on our website then too. During the Tour, we'll continue to post on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and our website to keep you informed along the way!
Martin ten Kortenaar Hnatyshyn Foundation Award Winner!
Congratulations to Martin ten Kortenaar, who is the recipient of the 2013 Hnatyshyn Foundation Developing Artist Grant for Ballet. Jointly nominated by NBS and the National Ballet of Canada, we are thrilled to share this news and send our best wishes to Martin, who is currently dancing out in Banff.
Adult Ballet Adult Ballet
Look for new videos celebrating the Adult Ballet program at NBS coming soon to the NBS YouTube channel. Meanwhile, check out the latest video, showing a guerilla ballet class filmed recently at the Toronto Port Authority. Stay tuned to find out when and where the next one will take place!
Dancing for Parkinson's Dancing with Parkinson's at NBS
Beginning September, NBS will be offering dance classes to people with Parkinson's Disease. Volunteers are sought to participate in the classes and a study run by researchers at York and Ryerson Universities.

Read of two long-term friends and NBS donors and their desire to leave a legacy to the School. Like many of NBS' dedicated supporters, their story speaks of personal commitment and reveals their belief in the importance of including the Arts in educating children.
Culture Days Culture Days
September 29 – This year Culture Days weekend will be happening on September 28 and 29, 2013. As with last year, we'll be offering an observation experience in the Betty Oliphant Theatre on Saturday, September 28 and a range of classes on September 29. Class registration will open on August 15 no registration is required for the observation classes.
Teacher Training Program Teacher Training Program Day
September 28 will see NBS open its doors to high school students interested in pursuing a career as a dance teacher. Teacher Training Program Manager Anuschka Roes will host the inaugural Teacher Training Program Day if interested, please contact Kelly Henderson at 416-964-3780 x2144.
