Bob Ashley

Bob Ashley received his musical training in Winnipeg where he became a professional musician working in many genres. After moving to Toronto in 1968, he became a full-time staff musician at NBS in 1968 and stayed in that position for 3 years. Over the next 3 decades he had a very successful career in musical theatre as a pianist, musical director, and composer in many of the major theatres in Canada. In 1982, he was awarded a Dora Mavor Moore Award for musical direction. During all that time, he remained in contact with NBS and frequently returned to play occasional classes. In 2006, he became a permanent-part-time member of the artistic staff.
