To become a volunteer at NBS, we require the following:
Volunteer age minimum is Grade 9 (14+) (some program areas will require additional qualifications and 18+) |
A completed volunteer application form, resume and references |
A completed police check (Volunteers 18+) |
A positive attitude and willingness to try new things |
No previous dance or arts admininistration experience required! |
NBS offers a variety of volunteer opportunities including special events and weekly programming. See below for time commitments for each role:
For weekly programs: A commitment of 1 shift per week (approximately 1.5 hours). If volunteering in a weekly dance program the volunteer shift will occur at the same time and day each week for the duration of the term. |
For special events: A commitment of the duration of the event (approximately 3 hours). |
For all volunteer opportunities: Each volunteer must complete one initial orientation training session. Some programs and events will require an additional training session specific to the program/event needs. |
NBS has rotating volunteer needs including theatre usher, special event support, dance class assistant and administrative tasks.
NBS is currently looking for volunteers for:
Adaptive Dance – Dance Class Assistant (Learn More)
NBS Kids Community Classes – Dance Class Assistant
NBS Parkinson’s Dance – Dance Class Assistant
All applicants are required to provide a resume and cover letter, a completed NBS volunteer application form, and two non-family references.
We are currently moving to a new volunteer platform. As such, our application process has been closed for the next few days to allow time for this transition.

Please note there is no deadline for submitting an application however successful applicants will be offered positions on a first come first serve basis. The NBS Volunteer Department will keep your application on file for the duration of one year and notify you when positions become available. We thank all applicants for their interest.
