Adult Ballet

Make the Art of Ballet Part of Your Life

Personal attention, exceptional instruction, live piano accompaniment, and state-of-the-art facilities are all hallmarks of the NBS Adult Ballet Program.

Established in 1996, this program is one of the most popular recreational ballet programs in the Greater Toronto Area, offering a range of classes for dancers of all ages and all levels of dance experience.

"There is an air of camaraderie, with a dash of humour and playful curiosity around the set class material. There is equally a mesmerizing sense of focus, determination and clarity of movement. It's evident there is more to the class than vocabulary-based achievements."

- Sarah Lochhead, The Dance Current

Adult Ballet at NBS draws on the same teaching theories and evolving practices that are applied in our well-established full-time and part-time training programs. With seven progressive levels of instruction, this program allows dancers to advance at their own pace through a carefully constructed program of increasingly complex exercises, allowing ample time for comprehensive and meaningful learning.

Juan Pablo, Adult Ballet Student

Since I was a kid, I always dreamt of being a dancer…I’ve been taking classes at Canada’s National Ballet School for almost two years now. I’m so glad I found the program and fulfilled the dream.

I only started learning ballet as an adult, and I found the class very useful for me in so many ways! The instruction is clear, accompanied by such gorgeous live music. I look forward to the class every 7:15 AM (Malaysia time)!! The discovery of this class during COVID is like finding a gem.

The class I have is fantastic and they’re so supportive. Anytime I talk about my class, I truly smile. I’m always encouraging anyone to just come out and try it. It was truly about doing something for myself. It gave me a lot more confidence.
