The Stephen Godfrey Choreographic Workshop (SGCW) was named in May 1993 in memory of Stephen Godfrey, the late journalist for The Globe and Mail, who was an avid supporter of Canada's National Ballet School.
An annual event, the Stephen Godfrey Choreographic Workshop provides senior NBS students (Grade 9 and above) the opportunity to develop their choreographic skills. Throughout the creative process the student choreographers work with the School's professional artistic staff to experience every aspect of creating a new work. The stage manager, wardrobe supervisor and lighting designer, along with a mentor from the dance faculty, guide each student through the development of their creative process. One of the works will be performed at the NBS Supporters Meeting in the Fall.
