Three ballet students on exchange.

NBS strongly believes that training experience in other professional ballet schools is advantageous for senior students. Exposure to different teaching styles and approaches broadens a student's dancing and performance skills. NBS has a network of 24 partner schools, and encourages selected senior students to spend their summer studying elsewhere. The experience complements their dance training at NBS, while introducing them to the larger dance community.

Students participating in these exchanges are selected by the Ballet Faculty and the Artistic Director. Following this selection process, parents are contacted by the School's Student Exchange Coordinator, Deborah Hess, to discuss details.

Student Experience

One of the many factors making NBS distinct is the summer exchange program. Senior NBS students are encouraged to spend at least one summer school abroad, studying ballet at one of NBS' 21 international partner schools. The experience broadens their dance knowledge, exposes them to other dance teachers and helps keep the global dance community network thriving.

Each year NBS is pleased to welcome approximately 30 visiting exchange students to its campus.

At the same time, over 20 NBS students travel to study elsewhere for summer school. From Montreal to Winnipeg, New York, Australia, Germany and beyond, NBS students experience the best of the dance world through the participating partner schools.
