Moira Bartram, a lawyer, was born in London, England. She was educated in England and practiced law for several years in London, specializing in commercial and Merchant Bank financing and commercial leasing. In 1976, Moira moved to Canada and continued her practice of law in Toronto. After working for a while with a large law firm, Moira owned and operated her own law firm for a number of years. In 1986, Moira joined American Motors and, in 1988, moved to General Motors of Canada as a senior in-house counsel, specializing in product liability litigation and governmental regulatory issues relating to safety and engineering. Moira retired from the practice of law in 2001. Moira has been a member of the Board of Directors of Canada’s National Ballet School Foundation since 2004 and served as President from 2013 to 2017.
Moira has had a lifelong love of ballet. Thanks to her husband, Joseph Fantl, she has learned to love opera too. Moira and her husband are supporters of the National Ballet of Canada, the Canadian Opera Company and Opera Atelier. Moira's other interests include reading, art and travel.
