Monica Shin has close to 20 years of experience in the Capital Markets business. She joined the Equity Research Team at BMO Capital Markets in 2001, and is currently the group’s Chief Operating Officer. Monica is also an active participant in the group’s annual United Way campaign. Prior to joining BMO, Monica worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade within the Asia-Pacific group. 

Monica is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She has been a Board Member of Canada’s National Ballet School Foundation since 2015 serving as Treasurer from 2018-2020, and assumed the Chair in 2021. 

Monica and her partner Michael Butcher have a mutual love of the arts, design, food and sports, forming the basis of their frequent travel itineraries.
