Susan Templeton Kinney

Development Director, Ballet San Angelo Texas

Susan Templeton Kinney received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting from the University of Texas in Austin and a Master of Social Work, begun at New York University and completed at the University of Houston. She has held art-based positions at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Caroline Lee Gallery, Houston, First Presbyterian Summer Arts Conservatory and Covenant House New York, where she developed an art program for older youth transitioning to independent living.

 

Susan worked for many years in architecture, and invested volunteer time in the creative development of the San Angelo Performing Arts Center, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and Ballet San Angelo, where she accepted a Development Director position in 2019.

 

At the Ballet, she has helped secure arts funding for her region and taught in a Dance for PD© based program called Joy of Movement.

 

Susan is proud to serve on the US branch of Canada’s National Ballet School Friends Board since 2014. She particularly loves NBS’ commitment to community engagement, artistic excellence, honest self-evaluation, and strategic planning. Susan and her husband Craig live in San Angelo, Texas, have two grown children, Nathan, an industrial designer/artist in Houston, and Helen Clare, an NBS-trained professional ballet dancer in Vienna. Susan’s downtime includes painting, cooking, and pretending to be a gardener.

 

Susan has been on the FCNBS Board since 2014.
