Jing Zhao, CPA, PLP

Jing Zhao is the Director, Finance at Canada's National Ballet School (NBS).

Jing joined NBS in late 2009 as Payroll Specialist, and has held increasingly senior positions, including Accounting Supervisor, Accounting Manager and Finance Controller prior to assuming the position of Director, Finance in 2023. Over the past fifteen years, Jing has been a leading force in the development of a strong and collaborative Finance team, and has improved efficiencies by streamlining financial processes. She has strengthened partnerships both internally and externally and has successfully led multiple annual audits, system conversions/integrations, project financial reporting, budget modeling, government compliance filing and cash management for the organization. 

As the Director, Finance of the School, Jing also manages financial reporting and audits for the NBS Pension Plan, the NBS Foundation (Canadian) and the Friends of NBS Foundation (US). For all entities, Jing is responsible for Boards and Committees/Sub-Committees reporting.

Jing is a designated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and a Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) – designated through the Canadian Payroll Association. She holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and worked as a Professional Environmental Engineer in China prior to coming to Canada in 1999. Jing enjoys various sports, travel, and loves spending time with friends and families, as well silent reading.
