Melanie Garcia has been an academic teacher at NBS since 2015. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Education from OISE, and a Master of Education from the University of Ottawa in Studies in Teaching and Learning. Prior to coming to NBS, Melanie taught junior high school in the remote Northern Saskatchewan community of Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nation. Her experiences in the North impacted both her personal and professional life and drove her interest and commitment to teaching for Reconciliation. 

In her spare time, Melanie enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her family.
