NBS Students Perform at the Holland Dance Festival
In late January, a group of NBS students had the incredible opportunity to perform in the Holland Dance Festival 2024 (HDF24), the only international dance-biennial in the Netherlands.
Ten NBS students performed a trio of excerpts from James Kudelka’s Lay Dances and in a blended cast performance of WaltzTanGall by Waverly T. Lucas II with four professional dancers from Ballethnic Dance Company. Both works were performed during Future of Dance, the HDF24 Opening Gala on January 24, 2024. This year's opening gala was particularly special, as it was dedicated to NBS' Artistic Director and CEO, Mavis Staines, for her incredible work within the international ballet community.
Keith Morino, NBS Contemporary Dance Teacher and Company Life Program (CLP) Coordinator shares, "Our trip to the Netherlands and participation in the inaugural Gala for the Holland Dance Festival 2024 was an incredibly inspiring and fulfilling experience for all. Traveling with four grade 12 students, nine CLP dancers and four dancers from the Ballethnic Dance company of Atlanta, we were warmly welcomed by the organization to a week of performing, workshops and seeing other dance performances."
The Holland Dance Festival celebrates the enormous richness and versatility of dance and has connected people from around the globe through the power of dance for over 35 years. We are thrilled that our students had such an enriching opportunity to collaborate and share dance with people on such a wide scale.
