A Holiday Gift Guide from Canada’s National Ballet School

This holiday season, celebrate the dancer, the dance enthusiast, or the dance champion in your life with a gift especially designed for them.

Gift a dance experience

The gift of dance offers a unique creative learning experience that won't be forgotten! Personal attention, exceptional instruction, and state-of-the-art facilities are all hallmarks of the recreational dance programs at Canada's National Ballet School (NBS). All Ballet classes also feature beautiful live piano accompaniment.

Children and youth ages 5-17 can spark a love for dance in our Young Dancers Program, Open Dance stream. This part-time flexible program offers classes in a variety of dance forms including ballet, jazz, hip hop and contemporary. Classes are available starting in January and auditions are not required.

NBS' popular Adult Ballet program is perfect for someone who wants to explore dance for the first time or someone to develop their dance skills. With seven progressive levels of ballet, students can achieve their dance goals with our expert dance educators. Classes are held on-site at our award-winning campus and online classes can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Students can share the joy of dance with a loved one across the province or around the globe. The winter term of Adult Ballet kicks-off on January 2 and runs until March 28.

Shop Dance Must-Haves

The Shoe Room is the perfect one-stop shop for everything dance related! As the country’s largest carrier of inclusive dancewear and shoes, there's something for everyone. The Shoe Room is also the first North American retailer for Bosaddo dancewear, which is made in Europe using the highest quality fabrics and materials. Prints by Canadian artist Kiki Symoné make beautiful decor and warm-up boots are the coziest gift of the season.

All proceeds from The Shoe Room are returned to NBS to support programs that offer meaningful dance experiences to dancers of all ages, aspirations and abilities in the community; support the health and wellness of older adults, including those living with Dementia or Parkinson’s; and ensure that talented youth can realize their full potential regardless of financial barriers.

Give the gift that gives again

This season, give the gift of joy and movement in honour of a loved one! Canada's National Ballet School is a national charity and together with our supporters, we’re helping people of all ages and abilities experience the life-changing power of dance.

  • $25 gives a child with diverse physical, cognitive and/or developmental needs the joy of dancing in an NBS Adaptive Dance class.

  • $50 gives an older adult one term of dance classes with NBS in our Sharing Dance Older Adults @ Home program.

  • $120 (or $10/month) gives financial assistance to support NBS’ professional ballet students as they work to pursue their dreams.

Donate online and receive an e-card to share with your loved ones.

Special Stocking Stuffers

For small stocking stuffers that leave a big impression, The Shoe Room has a lot of fun and thoughtful items to choose from. A hair accessory kit is perfect for dancers on the go, while a colourful pointe shoe keychain makes an adorable surprise for any member of the family. If you're feeling indecisive, a gift card is always well received.
